Our Foundation has made great strides in opening opportunities for Shore residents and others who want to study on the Eastern Shore. While VCU is our leading partner, we invite other institutions of higher learning and higher education professionals to explore the Shore, meet with ESCC and us to mine additional opportunities to support higher education. By providing additional courses, expertise, and teaching staff, students here will be able to take advantage of a greater mix of higher-level classes while offering your own professors an opportunity for sabbaticals and teaching experiences in this beautiful part of Virginia.

There are many advantages associated with the Eastern Shore, including:

• natural beauty

• recreational opportunities

• history

• three University Research Stations (UVA, VIMS, and Va Tech)

• proximity to the historic Hampton Roads area (1.7 million population) and important institutions such as Wallops—Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS)

• United States Navy-Norfolk (the largest naval base in the World) and associated ship-building industries

• Dover Air Force Base

• Naval Air Station-Oceana in Virginia Beach, and

• our strategic positioning in the middle of the Atlantic Seaboard.
